What this tool is. The Installer Check List (web app, app, and this website) is a professional guidance tool for exterior shade installers and dealers, published by Leanne Donelson and featuring the Exterior Shade Guru, Tommy Long. It asks questions, organizes the answers, and offers recommendations based on those answers.

Advice disclaimer — read this. The Check List, its recommendations, and all advice and content on this website (including the maintenance and care guidance and the videos) are general guidance based on the information entered by the user. They are not a substitute for the installer's own on-site inspection, measurements, and professional judgment. The installer or dealer using this tool is solely responsible for verifying all conditions at the job site and for every quote, repair, installation, or other work they perform.

Neither Tommy Long (Exterior Shade Guru) nor Leanne Donelson is responsible or liable for the advice provided by this tool or this website, or for any outcome, loss, damage, or cost arising from its use. Any review of a submitted checklist summary (the "Guru double-check") is a courtesy opinion based only on the information submitted — it is not an inspection, certification, guarantee, or warranty, and it does not transfer responsibility for the job to Tommy Long or Leanne Donelson.

Recommendations and commercial relationships. Some recommendations in the Check List may name a preferred brand, product, or supplier. Where the publisher or the Exterior Shade Guru has a commercial relationship with a named company (including sponsorship, referral arrangements, or employment), that relationship is disclosed with the recommendation. A recommendation is never a guarantee that a product is right for a particular job.

Acceptable use. You may use the Check List for your own shade-repair work. You may not scrape, copy in bulk, reverse engineer, resell, or build a competing product from the checklist questions, recommendation logic, or site content.

Intellectual property. The Check List, its questions, texts, and design are © 2026 Leanne Donelson. The Exterior Shade Guru name and badge are the property of Tommy Long and are used with his permission. Help videos play through YouTube's official embedded player and remain subject to YouTube's Terms of Service.

No warranty; limitation of liability. The tool and website are provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tommy Long and Leanne Donelson disclaim liability for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from use of the tool, the website, or their advice.

Changes and governing law. These terms may be updated; the current version lives at this address. Texas law governs.
